FNHW initiated its interventions in Kerala during the 2020-21 fiscal year. The trial phase commenced in 2015 with activities in Attappady, Palakkad District, and Thirunelli, Wayanad district. Initially, in 2020, the project focused on tribal and coastal areas across seven selected districts, including Kozhikode, Palakkad, Kasaragod, Alappuzha, Wayanad, Malappuram, and Ernakulam, as well as all model CLFs.

 

In the subsequent year, the project expanded its reach to tribal and coastal areas in Pathanamthitta, Idukki, Thrissur, Kannur, and Thiruvananthapuram. By 2022-2023, the initiative further extended to Kollam and Kottayam, implementing interventions in all CDS.

Goal

 

Ensuring Nutritional and Health security of each family member of Neighbourhood groups through FNHW interventions and enhancing economic status which leads to reducing poverty.

 

 

Objectives

 

  1. To improve the health status of each woman and children by adopting essential FNHW activities through the three tier structure of Kudumbashree.
  2. To enhance the health status of families by introducing nutritional related enterprises and initiatives.
  3. Improve the mental health status of elderly, mental patients and differently able individuals by ensuring basic needs.
  4. To address reproductive health issues of women workers of plantation and coastal areas.
  5. To address the issue of substance abuse among youth in tribal and coastal areas.
  6. Addressing the sanitation related issues and developing structured measures for hygienic living conditions through NHG activities.
  7. Promoting nutri-gardens and ensuring nutritional security.
