• Cheruvathoor Ground, Kunnamkulam

Organised by Kudumbashree Mission Saras Mela 2019, the national food and cultural expo, the largest rural exhibition in the country which would offer the best of traditional ethnic food and artistry at Cheruvathur Ground, Kunnamkulam, Thrissur on 28 March 2019. Thousands of entrepreneurs from different parts of the country has participated with various kinds of products to steal the hearts of the customers. The products includes food, clothing, handmade items, household items etc.  Around 250 colorful stalls are set up at Cheruvathur ground at Kunnamkulam.  

The Saras fair, which is being conducted by the Kudumbashree Mission in cooperation with the Ministry of Rural Development and the State government is a 11 long days stretched exhibition cum sale programme. The objective of the fair is to ensure market for rural entrepreneurs and to provide an opportunity to sell their products without any interference of any second person.  Through this fair the rural artisans, craftsmen, and beneficiaries of Self Help Groups (SHG) across India exhibit and sell their products directly with customers, thereby earning additional income as well as a significant exposure. 

The entrepreneurs came all the way from different states to make the fair more attractive with their traditional food items. entrepreneurs from 29 states and 7 union territories across the country participated in the programme. Micro entrepreneurs from different states of the country arrived at the Saras Fair 2019. The handicrafts showcased the heritage and culture of each states, art forms, jewelry, fabrics, utensils etc has been introduced for sale at the Saras Mela. The ethnic food prepared by the Kudumbashree women added more colour to the programme. 

The India food court which opened at the Saras Fair offered various cuisines from different states across the country. Thukpa, chow mein, thenthuk, fakthu, gyathuk, wonton and momos has been made available at the food stall of Sikkim. Lakshadweep biriyani, lakshdweep mass, keelanchi, chattipathiri, irachipathiri,fish roll, fish cutlet, fish samosa, pookkuthappam, kadukatti, choolala shake, maasappam, thokkappam,kattippaal, lakshadweep halwa, tuna pickle etc has been made available at sale at Lakshadweep's food stall. Karnataka's food stall offered rice bath, bisi bela bath, vanki bath, chaat dishes, ragi dishes, different varieties, pulav, bajjis, curries, rotis, golgappa, panipuri, masala poori, akki rotti, chicken kebab etc whereas marathi chicken biriyani, veg biriyani, pani puri, vada paav, dahee dappatta, chinna badam chutney, dahi vada, masala papad etc  hasb been offered by Maharashtra's food stall. Goan fish moli, grilled fish, vada paav, goan pakoda, goan veg dhaali,  varieties of prawn dishes and special goan masala papad has been offered by the food stall of Goa. Also various cuisines from different states across the country has made a delicious experience to the food lovers.

Officials of Kudumbashree National Resource Organisation in cooperation with Adebha Institute of Food Research and Hospitality Management, Thrissur (AIFRHM) has conducted an awareness class for these entrepreneurs to discuss the rules and regulations, the suggestions and their needs for the smooth participation in the fair. In addition to this, 45 student beneficiaries of DDUGKY conducted a flash mob near Kunnamkulam bus stand on 26  March 2019  for the publicity and promotion of the fair.

Saras fairs help the micro entrepreneurs to sell out their products to the consumers without the interventions of the middle men and would help them to grow better business relations and thereby increase their sales. This helped them in earning more income and better life style. The programme strictly follow green protocol and opened from 10 AM to 10 PM. Only cloth bags and paper bags has been used during the mela. Daily cultural programmes has been organised in connection with the programme. Entry to Saras Mela is absolutely free.

• Mini Hall, Kunnamkulam Municipality

The skill training - Paper Bag, Paper Products for persons with disabilities has been started at Kunnamkulam Municipality. The training has been designed for a period of 1 week. The skill training provider C-STED, an accredited agency approved by Govt. of Kerala is providing the skill training to the beneficiaries. 28 beneficiaries who were persons with disablities and their parents were attending the training. The training program has been inaugurted kunnamkulam municipal secretary Shri K.K Manoj who took the initiative for providing skill training to persons with disabilities with a goal which aims to start a micro-entreprise of persons with disabilities in kunnamkulam. Member Secretary Smt Sini, NULM Team attended the programme.

The new initiative of the NULM - Pink Auto has been launched on International Women's Day at Kunnakulam Municipality. The flag off of pink auto has done by Kunnamkulam Municipal Chairperson Smt Seetha Raveendran. Pink Auto is the new SEP initiative of the NULM Scheme. Ms Sherly Suresh is the beneficiary who came forward by showing her interest to start Pink Auto. The handover of the key to Ms Sherly has done by Kunnamkulam Municipal Chairperson Smt Seetha Raveendran. 1. The SEP Beneficiary who is a Kudumbashree NHG Member is driving the vehicle.

2. 85% of the total project cost was received as bank loan and the remaining 15% contributed by the beneficiary 

3. Fare meter has been installed , so no extra charges needed to be given

4. GPS is installed for ensuring safety travelling and navigation,

5. The parking for the vehicle is provided in municipal office parking area itself where the municipal staffs, officials and others can utilize the facility easily

6. The The first 6 months will be in the control of the NULM office .

• Govt.Model Boys High School, Kunnamkulam.

Sanghadaka Samithi Yogam of Kudumbashree National Saras Mela 2019 inaugurated by Hon LSGD Minister Shri A.C Moidheen at Govt.Model Boys High School, Kunnamkulam. Different sub-committees has been formed under the leadership of Shri A.C Moidheen , Chairman of the Sanghadaka Samithi - Saras Mela 2019. All staffs , councilors , standing committee chairpersons of kunnamkulam municipality, block co-ordinators and all staffs from Thrissur Kudumbasree District Mission, All NULM & PMAY staffs, CDS chairpersons from municipalities, gramapanchayaths etc attended the meeting and all the committee and sub-committee members were given various duties with respect to the committees they were assigned for. The logo and facebook page of saras mela has been launched by Shri A.C Moidheen. Vote of thanks has been given by Kunnamkulam Municipal Chairperson Smt. A Co-ordination Committee meeting for Desiya Saras Mela 2019 is scheduled to organize at Govt.Model Boys High School, Kunnamkulam on 03-03-2019. Minister of Local Self Government, Kerala Sri. A C Moideen will inaugurate the function and launching of official logo. The programme will be presided over by Jilla Panchayat President Smt. Mary Thomas. Kunnamkulam Municipal Chairperson Smt. Seetha Raveendran will deliver welcome speech and Chief Operating Officer, NRLM Sri.Ajith Chacko will brief about the programme.
