Vishu Markets of Kudumbashree starts across the state Updated On 2022-04-12

Vishu Markets of Kudumbashree are started across the state. The Vishu Markets will be started in all the 1069 CDSs and will function till 15 April 2022. The Vishnu Markets aim at making available organic vegetables at affordable rates to the public. It also aims at helping the Kudumbashree farmers and entrepreneurs to market their products and thereby help them to increase their income after the crisis of covid-19 pandemic.

 

It is envisaged to sell the organic vegetables produced by the 74,776 Kudumbashree women farming groups (Joint Liability Groups-JLGs) and the products of Kudumbashree micro entrepreneurs through these Vishu Markets. Organic cucumber, bitter gourd, spinach, aubergine, lady's finger, green chilly, pumpkin, peas, birds's eye chilli, drumstick, etc and various snacks, flours, curry powders, chutney powders etc will be available for sale at Kudumbashree Vishu Markets. In addition to that, different food items locally prepared by Kudumbashree entrepreneurs will also be sale at the Vishu Markets.

 

The Vishu Markets are arranged associating with the Local Self Government Institutions. The Organizing Committee formed at each CDSs are entrusted with bringing maximum products to the Vishu Market. This committee would also ensure the security of the market and will also ensure that the basic amenities are arranged. Arrangements are also made to analyze the participation and quantity of the products brought to the market. The Vishu markets will be organized ensuring covid protocol and green protocol.

Saras Mela 2022 concluded Updated On 2022-04-12

Organized by Kudumbashree Mission, Saras Mela 2022, the national food and cultural expo, held at Kanakakunnu, Thiruvananthapuram from 30 March 2022 onwards, offering the best of traditional food and artistry has been concluded carving out yet another era in the history by drawing massive crowds. Shri. Sivankutty, Minister for General Education and Labour, Government of Kerala inaugurated the valedictory function on 10 April 2022.

 

The products of the rural entrepreneurs of India were arranged under one roof through 250 sales stalls. Food Court with 25 stalls where the cuisines from 15 states were available was also set up at Saras Mela 2022. In addition to that Cultural Programmes were arranged everyday. Various products such as jewelry, fabrics, leather products, handicrafts from Sikkim, Gujarat, Haryana, Jharkhand, Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, Goa etc were brought for sale.

 

The Awards for the Best Entrepreneurs and the Media Awards for giving good news coverage for Saras Mela 2022 was also given away at the function. Adv. V. K Prasanth, MLA, Vattiyoorkavu Constituency presided over the function. Smt. P.I Sreevidya IAS, Executive Director, Kudumbashree welcomed the gathering. Adv. D. Suresh Kumar, President, District Panchayath, Adv. D.K Murali, MLA, Vamanapuram Constituency, Adv. G Stephen, MLA, Aruvikkara Constituency and Dr. Khadija Mumtaz, Renowned Writer also attended the programme. Dr. K.R Shaiju, District Mission Coordinator, Kudumbashree Thiruvananthapuram District Mission extended the vote of thanks.

Sargam 2022: Awards distributed to the Winners Updated On 2022-04-12

The Awards of 'Sargam 2022', the Story Writing Competition organized for Kudumbashree members have been distributed. Dr. Khadija Mumtaz, Renowned Writer and Former Vice President, Kerala Sahitya Academy had presented the awards to the winners at the function held in connection with the conclusion of Saras Mela 2022 at Nishagandhi Auditorium, Kanakakunnu on 10 April 2022.

 

Smt. Nitha P, (Story-Thfu), the first prize winner, hailing from Palakkad district, received the cash award of Rs. 15,000, memento and certificate. Smt. Dhanya N Nair (Story-Theendari), the second prize winner, hailing from Kottayam district received the cash award of Rs. 10,000, memento and certificate. Whereas, Smt. Latha (Story-Nirathu Vakkile Marangal), the third prize winner, hailing from Malappuram district received Rs. 5,000, memento and certificate.


Consolation Prizes were distributed to Smt. Baby Girija (Palakkad), Smt. Oormila A (Thiruvananthapuram), Smt. Vijayalakshmi M.K (Kannur), Smt. Sreedevi K Lal (Ernakulam), and Smt. Jisha M (Kannur). Cash Prize of Rs. 1,000, mementos and certificates were given to the consolation prize winners. Smt. Irfana P.K (Kannur), Smt. Rashida Zubair M.T (Malappuram) and Smt. Anuja Baiju (Kottayam) have also bagged the consolation prizes.

Capacity Building Training for the new CDS Governing Committee starts Updated On 2022-04-12

Capacity Building Training for the new CDS Governing Committee who took charge has been started. The training aims at equipping them to lead Kudumbashree at its best for the next three years, take the Kudumbashree organization system to the next level, make more effective interventions in the bottom level through Kudumbashree etc. The training also aims at giving a clear awareness about Kudumbashree and create a sense of direction to work with collective responsibility from the start of the tenure of the Governing Committee.

 

The training to the members of the Governing Committee is being given through the 320 Master Trainers selected from among the training group members and officials from each district. 19,470 Governing Committee members will be given training in 359 batches. The activity based training is given in 8 topics such as 'Kudumbashree and Society based Organization', 'Community Leadership Public Speaking', 'Vision Building' etc.

Kudumbashree members from Kannur serves different cuisines at the First Anniversary Celebrations of the State Government Updated On 2022-04-06

Kudumbashree members from Kannur are serving different cuisines at the First Anniversary Celebrations of the State Government. The First Anniversary Celebrations of the State Government was started at the Police Ground, Kannur on 3 April 2022. Kudumbashree members have caught the attention of the public by serving mouth watering cuisines at the food court of the Exhibition-Sales Stall which is set up at the Police Ground in 80,000 sqft area. The food court is set up in 8000 sqft area. 

Vana Sundari from Attappady, Chicken Stick from Kasaragod, variety juices from Kannur etc are available at this food court. In addition, Kudumbashree's  presence is ensured in 10 exhibition-sales stalls. Products of more than 80 entrepreneurs from the district are for sale at these stalls. 'Kanal Thandiya Vazhikal', a video produced on the achievements of Kudumbashree Kannur District Mission from 2017 to 2022, of 36 minutes duration is also screened at the programme. The Programme will come to an end on 14 April 2022.

Saras Mela 2022 Progressing Updated On 2022-04-05

Organised by Kudumbashree Mission Saras Mela 2022, the national food and cultural expo, offering the best of traditional, ethnic food and artistry, kick started on 30 March 2022 is progressing well at Kanakakunnu, Thiruvananthapuram. The Mela was started when Shri. Pinarayi Vijayan, Chief Minister, Government of  Kerala, inaugurated the programme on 30 March 2022. Thiruvananthapuram has wholeheartedly welcomed the programme and thousands of people are visiting the Saras Mela 2022 everyday. 

 

The programme strictly follow the green protocol. Daily cultural programmes like Gazal, Folk Songs, Music Programmes, Rajasthani Folk Dance etc were held until now. Bengali Folk Dance, Parayan Thullal,Odissi Classical Dance, Lyrical Narrative (Kadhaprasangam), Kuchipudi,  Mohiniyattom, Thiruvathira, Bharatanatyam, seminars, and dance programmes of BUDS children are also arranged in connection with Saras Mela 2022. 

 

The handicrafts that showcase the heritage and culture of each state, art forms, jewelry, fabrics, utensils etc are for sale at the Saras Mela 2022. Adding more colour to Kerala's festive days, Saras Mela is an incredible opportunity to get acquainted with the cultural, artistic, traditional, and rich heritage values of different states across the country. Entry to the Saras Mela is absolutely free. Saras Fair would not only be a platform for the micro entrepreneurs to find a market for their rural products, but also, this national festival would act as a platform which arranges the get together of the diverse yet secular culture of our country. 

 

The Saras Mela which is being conducted in the state by Kudumbashree Mission in cooperation with the Ministry of Rural Development and the State government is a 11 long days stretched exhibition cum sale programme. The objective of the fair is to ensure a market for rural entrepreneurs and to provide an opportunity to sell their products without any interference of any second person. Through this fair the rural artisans, craftsmen, and beneficiaries of Self Help Groups (SHG) across India would be able to exhibit and sell their products directly with customers, thereby earning additional income as well as a significant exposure.  Saras Mela of Thiruvananthapuram would be an incredible opportunity to get acquainted with the cultural, artistic, traditional, and rich heritage values of different states across the country. Undoubtedly, Saras Mela  would add more colour to the festive days of Kerala. The mela would come to an end on 10 April 2022.

Kudumbashree Sargam 2022- State Level Story Writing Competition for Kudumbashree Women: Winners Announced Updated On 2022-04-04

The winners of 'Sargam 2022', the State Level Story Writing Competition for Kudumbashree Women has been announced by Shri. M.V Govindan Master, Minister, Local Self Government Department and Excise, Government of Kerala at Kannur on 4 April 2022. "Kudumbashree has reached a new level where Kudumbashree women are raised to the creative sector along with the general Kudumbashree activities and this Literature Award marks the start of this movement". The Minister said.

 

Smt. Nitha, P from Ottappalam Municipality CDS 2, Palakkad had bagged the First Prize (Rs.15,000) for the story-'Thfu'. Smt. Dhanya N Nair, from Kuzhithar, Kottayam, has bagged the Second Prize (Rs. 10,000) for the story-'Theendari'. Smt. T. V Latha, from Pallikkal CDS of Malappuram bagged the Third Prize (Rs. 5,000) for the story-'Nirathu Vakkile Marangal'. The Award consist of Cash Prize, Momento and Certificate.

 

8 of them will be given Consolation Prize of Rs. 1,000 each along with Momento and Certificate. Smt. Baby Girija (Palakkad), Smt. Oormila A (Thiruvananthapuram), Smt. Vijayalakshmi M.K (Kannur), Smt. Irfana P.K (Kannur), Smt. Rashida Zubair M.T (Malappuram), Smt. Sreedevi K Lal (Ernakulam), Smt. Anuja Baiju (Kottayam) and Smt. Jisha M (Kannur) have bagged the Consolation Prizes.

 

The winners were selected by the Jury consisting of Dr. P.K. Rajasekharan, Smt. K.A. Beena and Smt. K. Rekha. The Jury suggested that the stories are contemporary and has great narrative. The Jury suggested that it brings great hope that Kudumbashree women are entering into the literary world. The First Level Selection was done by the Malayalam Department of Kerala University. Dr. S.S. Saritha, Dr. Ambili, Shri. Vishakh were the Jury members.

 

A total of 1338 entries were received in the 'Sargam 2022', the State Level Story Writing Competition organized to identify and nurture the creative skills of Kudumbashree Women. The valuation was done in two phases. In the first phase 60 entries were selected. 'Sargam 2022', a Story Workshop was organized for 40 out of the 60 Kudumbashree members at KILA, Thrissur from 23 to 25 March 2022, in association with Kerala Sahitya Academy and Kerala Institute of Local Administration (KILA), Thrissur. Kudumbashree will edit and publish the stories of the 60 members who are included in the final list. The Awards will be distributed at the Valedictory Function of Saras Mela 2022, proposed to be held at Nishagandhi Auditorium, Kanakakunnu, Thiruvananthapuram on 10 April 2022.

Saras Mela 2022 kickstarted at Thiruvananthapuram Updated On 2022-03-31

Organized by Kudumbashree, Saras Mela 2022, the national food and cultural expo, offering the best of traditional, ethnic food and artistry was kickstarted at Kanakakunnu, Thiruvananthapuram on 30 March 2022. Micro entrepreneurs from 28 states and 8 Union territories across the country are taking part in the programme and 250 stalls are opened. The handicrafts that would showcase the heritage and culture of each states, art forms, jewelry, fabrics, utensils etc would be for sale at the Saras Mela. Apart from the sales stalls, 25 food stalls are opened for offering cuisines of 15 states. Different ethnic cuisines from different states across the country would offer a new experience to the people. The programme strictly follow the green protocol. Suresh Kumar, President, Thiruvananthapuram District Panchayath, felicitated the District Teams who took part in the 'Sthreesakthi' Cultural Procession. Smt. Sarada Muraleedharan, Additional Chief Secretary, Local Self Government Department, Government of Kerala was also present at the function. The Saras Fairs are organized jointly by the Central- State Governments as part of the National Rural Livelihood Mission (NRLM), where the products of the entrepreneurs across the country is brought together for marketing. Saras Mela 2022 will come to an end on 10 April 2022.

Kudumbashree Kannur District Mission organized various programmes for Balasabha Members Updated On 2022-03-30

Kudumbashree Kannur District Mission has organized various programmes for Balasabha Members including Soccer, Volley Ball, Karate and Startup for the past three months. The Balasabha Members from the district were super active in those programmes. They took up the training and competitions in Volley Ball, Foot Ball and Karate with enthusiasm. 

The three month training was given to 300 Balasabha members from 9 Local Bodies viz. Kankole, Anthoor, Mayyil, Chembilode, Mattannur, Eranjoli, Kelakam,  Kuthuparamba, Narath. Anthoor Municipality came first in the District Tournament organized for them. The final tournament was held at Mini Stadium, Kuthuparamba, where the team from Anthoor defeated the Eranjoli team (2-0). Two Hundred Children from Azhikode, Kadirur, Iritty, Aralam, Chittariparamba had got training in Volley Ball. Aralam Farm team had won in the District Tournament organized for them. Aralam team had defeated the Iritty team at the tournament held at Mini Stadium, Chavassery.

Kudumbashree Kannur team had equipped 60 girls who are the Balasabha members from Cherukunnu, Panniyannur CDSs through  'Defense 2021' in Karate to defend atrocities against them. They had completed the First Phase Training of 60 hour duration and their performance was also showcased.  Belt and Certificate was distributed to the 60 children who had successfully completed the training. It is in addition to that, the Kudumbashree Kannur District Mission team implemented 'Student Startup' special activity to identify and nurture the innovative ideas of children. Shri. Sukesh, Assistant Professor, Electrical Department, Engineering College Kannur had analyzed 45 different ideas of the children and selected 12 out of them. These ideas include Mini Cooler, Modern Knife, Pandemic Prevention Robot etc. They will come before the panel with the models of these ideas to check the working condition by mid of April.

Kudumbashree Kannur District Mission had organized these activities to make the children more active after Covid-19 lockdown. The Kannur team have also decided to extend Bala Volley, Bala Soccer and Karate Training to all CDSs in the district in the upcoming year.

National Urban Livelihood Mission - Kerala comes first in SPARK Ranking Updated On 2022-03-26

Kerala came first in the implementation of the National Urban Livelihood Mission (NULM) Programme in the country. Kudumbashree, the nodal agency for implementing the programme in Kerala came first in the SPARK (Systematic Progressive Analytical Real Time Ranking) Ranking for the year 2020-21. Kudumbashree will get Rs 20 crores for coming first in the ranking of the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs, Government of India. The Award is for making the social inclusion possible, improving the lives of the urban poor and thereby bringing them to the mainstream of the society.

 

Kudumbashree had been in the third place in the ranking twice, during 2018 and 2020. Whereas, in 2019, Kudumbashree had been in the second place. It is after bagging those awards, Kudumbashree came in the first place, now.

 

Kudumbashree had started implementing this programme in the state associating with the Urban Local Bodies, for improving the lives of the urban poor from 2015 onwards. Kudumbashree has now bagged the award for the excellence in implementation of the programme after overcoming the challenges caused due to the crisis of covid-19 pandemic.

 

New NHGs are formed in the urban areas as part of NULM and Rs 10,000 each is being given as Revolving Fund. ADSs are being given Rs 50,000 as Revolving Fund. The other activities of the programme include starting Urban Livelihood Centres, ensure livelihood by extending skill training, extend financial support for starting individual-group enterprises and extend Linkage Loan & Interest Subsidy to NHGs.

 

Until now, 27 Shelter Homes were also completed as part of the programme. The Urban Street Vendors who were identified through the survey were given loan through PM SVANidhi (PM Street Vendor's AtmaNirbhar Nidhi) Programme and had been given identity cards as well.
