Parappanangadi is a village in Tirurangadi taluk of Malappuram district, Kerala, India. It is a town located close to the Arabian sea. Parappanangadi railway station is one of the oldest railway stations in Kerala.Total area of the municipality is 22.5km.It is one among the newly existed municipalities which is on 2015 with 45 wards.As municipality is locating close to arabian sea some of the wards completely comes under beach side ,Thus we can consider fishing related activities are main occupation in this municipality

Housing profile of the ULB

The latest documented statistics regarding housing in the municipality is available from the census data of 2011 and Property Tax Web Application Sanchaya . As per this there are 18403 houses in Parappanangadi. The average area of the houses in municipality is between 20 - 70 M2.

Different housing schemes implemented in the ULB under different schemes

EMS Housing Scheme

Under the scheme municipality gave financial assistance of 75000/- (from 11/2011 onwards it was raised to 2 lakhs) for the houses with a range of 25-60m2. The EMS housing scheme started in Parappanangadi municipality with 3 beneficiaries, in 2011-2012 there were 26, in 2012-2013 there were 39, in 2013-2014 there were 40 , in 2014-2015 there were 20 and in 2015 – 2016 there were 1 beneficiaries . Out of 132 beneficiaries who executed agreement, The payment have been done for 129 beneficiaries who completed the construction.

Tanal Housing Scheme

With a view of housing for all, Municipality introduced a housing scheme called Tanal Housing Scheme in 2013-2014. In this own scheme , municipality targeted 100 beneficiaries in two stage of operations with a financial assistance of 2 lakhs rupees.

Details of landless and homeless in ULB

In EMS survey 132 persons were identified as beneficiaries officially. In PMAY survey 1685 persons are identified as homeless.
