GURUVAYUR MUNICIPALITY
Guruvayoor is a small town in Thrissur district of Kerala. It is 25 km to the north west of Thrissur City in Thrissur district. It is famous for the Guruvayoor temple which is many centuries old and one of the most important temple in Kerala. The temple is famous as a site for pilgrimage and also a cultural centre as it is one of the centre points along which Kerala literature and art-forms have been developed. Guruvayoor municipality covers an area of 29.66 Sq.Km, located at 10 36'n 76 3'E and has a population of 20510. Density of population is 3115 persons /Sq.km. In 2010 added two panjayaths in Municipality i.e. Pookode and Thykad.
