• Cheruvathoor Ground, Kunnamkulam

Organised by Kudumbashree Mission Saras Mela 2019, the national food and cultural expo, the largest rural exhibition in the country which would offer the best of traditional ethnic food and artistry at Cheruvathur Ground, Kunnamkulam, Thrissur on 28 March 2019. Thousands of entrepreneurs from different parts of the country has participated with various kinds of products to steal the hearts of the customers. The products includes food, clothing, handmade items, household items etc.  Around 250 colorful stalls are set up at Cheruvathur ground at Kunnamkulam.  

The Saras fair, which is being conducted by the Kudumbashree Mission in cooperation with the Ministry of Rural Development and the State government is a 11 long days stretched exhibition cum sale programme. The objective of the fair is to ensure market for rural entrepreneurs and to provide an opportunity to sell their products without any interference of any second person.  Through this fair the rural artisans, craftsmen, and beneficiaries of Self Help Groups (SHG) across India exhibit and sell their products directly with customers, thereby earning additional income as well as a significant exposure. 

The entrepreneurs came all the way from different states to make the fair more attractive with their traditional food items. entrepreneurs from 29 states and 7 union territories across the country participated in the programme. Micro entrepreneurs from different states of the country arrived at the Saras Fair 2019. The handicrafts showcased the heritage and culture of each states, art forms, jewelry, fabrics, utensils etc has been introduced for sale at the Saras Mela. The ethnic food prepared by the Kudumbashree women added more colour to the programme. 

The India food court which opened at the Saras Fair offered various cuisines from different states across the country. Thukpa, chow mein, thenthuk, fakthu, gyathuk, wonton and momos has been made available at the food stall of Sikkim. Lakshadweep biriyani, lakshdweep mass, keelanchi, chattipathiri, irachipathiri,fish roll, fish cutlet, fish samosa, pookkuthappam, kadukatti, choolala shake, maasappam, thokkappam,kattippaal, lakshadweep halwa, tuna pickle etc has been made available at sale at Lakshadweep's food stall. Karnataka's food stall offered rice bath, bisi bela bath, vanki bath, chaat dishes, ragi dishes, different varieties, pulav, bajjis, curries, rotis, golgappa, panipuri, masala poori, akki rotti, chicken kebab etc whereas marathi chicken biriyani, veg biriyani, pani puri, vada paav, dahee dappatta, chinna badam chutney, dahi vada, masala papad etc  hasb been offered by Maharashtra's food stall. Goan fish moli, grilled fish, vada paav, goan pakoda, goan veg dhaali,  varieties of prawn dishes and special goan masala papad has been offered by the food stall of Goa. Also various cuisines from different states across the country has made a delicious experience to the food lovers.

Officials of Kudumbashree National Resource Organisation in cooperation with Adebha Institute of Food Research and Hospitality Management, Thrissur (AIFRHM) has conducted an awareness class for these entrepreneurs to discuss the rules and regulations, the suggestions and their needs for the smooth participation in the fair. In addition to this, 45 student beneficiaries of DDUGKY conducted a flash mob near Kunnamkulam bus stand on 26  March 2019  for the publicity and promotion of the fair.

Saras fairs help the micro entrepreneurs to sell out their products to the consumers without the interventions of the middle men and would help them to grow better business relations and thereby increase their sales. This helped them in earning more income and better life style. The programme strictly follow green protocol and opened from 10 AM to 10 PM. Only cloth bags and paper bags has been used during the mela. Daily cultural programmes has been organised in connection with the programme. Entry to Saras Mela is absolutely free.

• Mini Hall, Kunnamkulam Municipality

The skill training - Paper Bag, Paper Products for persons with disabilities has been started at Kunnamkulam Municipality. The training has been designed for a period of 1 week. The skill training provider C-STED, an accredited agency approved by Govt. of Kerala is providing the skill training to the beneficiaries. 28 beneficiaries who were persons with disablities and their parents were attending the training. The training program has been inaugurted kunnamkulam municipal secretary Shri K.K Manoj who took the initiative for providing skill training to persons with disabilities with a goal which aims to start a micro-entreprise of persons with disabilities in kunnamkulam. Member Secretary Smt Sini, NULM Team attended the programme.

• Kunnamkulam Municipality

The new initiative of the NULM - Pink Auto has been launched on International Women's Day at Kunnakulam Municipality. The flag off of pink auto has done by Kunnamkulam Municipal Chairperson Smt Seetha Raveendran. Pink Auto is the new SEP initiative of the NULM Scheme. Ms Sherly Suresh is the beneficiary who came forward by showing her interest to start Pink Auto. The handover of the key to Ms Sherly has done by Kunnamkulam Municipal Chairperson Smt Seetha Raveendran. All the standing committee chairperson & chairman, councilors, municipal secretary Shri K.K Manoj, NULM City Project Officer Shri Lakshmanan K.S, Municipal Staffs, Kunnamkulam Tahasildhar Smt Brijakumari, CDS Chairpersons, NULM City Mission Manager Smt Simina M given the vote of thanks.

Highlights of Pink Auto Service
 

1. The SEP Beneficiary who is a Kudumbashree NHG Member is driving the vehicle.

2. 85% of the total project cost was received as bank loan and the remaining 15% contributed by the beneficiary 

3. Fare meter has been installed , so no extra charges needed to be given

4. GPS is installed for ensuring safety travelling and navigation,

5. The parking for the vehicle is provided in municipal office parking area itself where the municipal staffs, officials and others can utilize the facility easily

6. The The first 6 months will be in the control of the NULM office .

• Govt.Model Boys High School, Kunnamkulam.

Sanghadaka Samithi Yogam of Kudumbashree National Saras Mela 2019 inaugurated by Hon LSGD Minister Shri A.C Moidheen at Govt.Model Boys High School, Kunnamkulam. Different sub-committees has been formed under the leadership of Shri A.C Moidheen , Chairman of the Sanghadaka Samithi - Saras Mela 2019. All staffs , councilors , standing committee chairpersons of kunnamkulam municipality, block co-ordinators and all staffs from Thrissur Kudumbasree District Mission, All NULM & PMAY staffs, CDS chairpersons from municipalities, gramapanchayaths etc attended the meeting and all the committee and sub-committee members were given various duties with respect to the committees they were assigned for. The logo and facebook page of saras mela has been launched by Shri A.C Moidheen. Vote of thanks has been given by Kunnamkulam Municipal Chairperson Smt. A meeting of the traditional construction of stone sculpture workers of kunnamkulam municipal area was held at kunnamkulam municipality. NULM City Mission Manager Smt Simina M explained about the NULM Self-Employment Programme scheme  for starting an entreprise in order to protect the stone sculpture industry in kunnamkulam which is about 200 years old and to improve & enhance their self-employment opportunities in this industry through NULM Project. Kunnamkulam Municipal Secretary Shri K.K Manoj also discussed the various schemes to sell their goods. Kunnamkulam Municipal Chairperson Smt Seetha Raveendran discussed regarding the funding from the municipality. Mazhavillu 2019 - A get together of persons with disabilities in the kunnamkulam municipal area was conducted at kunnamkulam municipality on 24/02/2019.  The function was inaugurated by Kunnamkulam Municipal Chairperson Smt. Seetha Raveendran . Vice Chairman Shri. P.M Suresh presided over the meeting. Standing committee chairpersons Suma Gangadharan, Misha Sebastian, Kunnamkulam Municipal Secretary Shri K.K Manoj, Councilors Shri K.A Aziz, Shri O.G Baji, Shri K.B Salim, Health Supervisor Shri K.S Lakshmanan, CDS chairperson Smt. Soumya Anilan, Smt. Shiji Nikesh, NULM City Mission Manager Smt Simina M has came up with felicitation speeches. 

This new initiative has been started under the leadership of Kunnamkulam Municipal Secretary Shri. K.K Manoj. A new NHG named as Mazhavillu for the persons with disabilities in the kunnamkulam area has been formed as a part of the function.Kunnamkulam Municipality aims to provide better opportunities for skilled persons with disabilities and those who want to engage in various employment opportunities to develop skills needed for skill development and to encourage them to start entreprises in various sectors as well. 

In the near future, the scheme will be allocated for the construction of the shelter home for the protection of the vulnerable. Around 48 persons participated in the function. Children and parents participated in various activities such as music, dance, painting, mimicry etc. Trophies were given to all the children who participated in the function.

• Conference Hall, Kunnamkulam Municipality

A two day training on Gender Equality to Kudumbashree NHG members has been conducted from 17/02/2019 to 18/02/2019 at Conference Hall, Kunnamkulam Municipality. The Gender Resource Persons Mrs Reena & Mrs Rajasree took the classes on the subject gender equality. Around 100 NHG members from different NHGs participated in the classes. 

• Trenching Ground, Kunnamkulam

The Ward Sabha has been conducted at Trenching Ground , Kunnamkulam under the leadership of Kunnamkulam Municipal Secretary Shri K.K Manoj. The trenching ground of kunnamkulam is famous for the place where dumping of waste and bad odour. In the earlier days, the people of kunnamkulam can't pass through the trenching ground due to bad smell coming from the waste. But now, the trenching ground is said to be the green park in kunnamkulam where recycling of waste and waste management has been successfully going on which is a best example and model of waste management to the entire country. Along with the waste management process, cultivation of plantain tree and other agricultural items is also producing there. Ward councilor Smt Vidhya Renjith presided the meeting and other Health Department Staffs attended the meeting.

As a part of the municipal development plan, two different projects has been inaugurated by Shri. A.C Moideen,  Hon. Minister for Local Self Government. The welcome speech has been given by Smt Seetha Raveendran, Kunnamkulam Municipal Chairperson and Kunnamkulam Vice-Chairman Shri P.M Suresh presided the programme. Distribution of laptops, chairs, tables and other study materials to the students of backward classes and Distribution of chenda , elathalam to the Polivu Singari Melam Kudumbashree Unit. SC Development Officer Shri P.M Biju presented the report. Standing Committee Chairpersons Smt Geetha Sasi, Sri K.K Murali, Smt Suma Gangadharan, Smt Misha Sebastian Councilors Shri Shaji Alikkal & Shri K.A Aziz. • Town Hall, Kunnamkulam Municipality

Kunnamkulam Municipality conducted NULM Nagarasree Utsavam on 14-02-2019. As a part of Nagarasree Utsavam municipality conducted Rally including NULM women entrepreneurs, Kudumbasree NHG members, CDS members, councillors etc participated in the rally. Kunnamkulam Municipal Chairperson Smt Seetha Raveendran inaugurated Nagarasree Utsavam Rally. The Welcome speech has been given by the NULM City Project Officer Sri. Lakshmanan K.S. Kunnamkulam Municipal Chairperson Smt Seetha Raveendran inaugurated the Nagarasree Utsavam programme at Kunnamkulam Town Hall .Vice chairperson presided the programme.

Municipal Chairperson Smt Seetha Raveendran distributed the awards for the Best NULM Skill Training Providers to TDLCC – Thrissur District Labour Contract Co-operative Society for training the NULM construction unit and Synchroserve Global Solutions for providing training successfully to the candidates and providing more than 50% of placement to the candidates in different organizations. Also Kerala Gramin Bank has awarded as the Best Bank award for providing 21 NULM SEP loans to the beneficiaries and the award has been given by the Municipal Chairperson Smt Seetha Raveendran to Asst. Manager, Kerala Gramin Bank. Municipal Secretary Sri K.K Manoj handed over EST&P TA & PPS cheque of Rs 1,36,000/- to the candidates who successfully completed the training of various EST&P courses. Municipal Vice Chairman handed over the EST&P certificates to the beneficiaries who successfully completed the different NULM courses. Ward councillors distributed the EDP certificates to the participants who completed the EDP programme successfully.

NULM City Mission Manager Smt Simina M presented the NULM Report with goals & achievements in various NULM components and Receipts & Expenditures for the FY 2018-19. Vote of thanks has been given by the CDS Chairpersons of CDS 1 & CDS 2.

Kunnamkulam Municipal Vice Chairman Shri. P.M Suresh laid the Door Frame for Kani Thulasi's House, The Kunnamkulam NULM Construction Unit Team is assigned for building the house for Kani Thulasi.
